INTERNSHIP OPPORTUNITY FOR AHHS STUDENTS: I am thrilled to announce that the application period for the paid Summer Manufacturing Rotational Internship Program will open on February 1st, 2024!
McHenry County students aged 16-18 will have the chance to embark on a 10-week paid internship in the field of manufacturing. This marks the program's 3rd year, and in the previous summer, 89 students completed over 17,173 hours of work, gaining valuable manufacturing experience!
Here are the key highlights of the program:
- Rotational work experience: Each student will work with two manufacturers, spending 5 weeks with each company.
- Paid work: $16 per hour
- 29 hours per week
- Eligibility: Students aged 16-18, including graduating seniors
- Residency requirement: Students must reside in McHenry County
- No resume required, no experience necessary
Pathway to employment and/or apprenticeship post-internshipMembers of the Manufacturing Pathways Consortium are available for in-person or virtual info sessions in your classrooms. Simply provide your preferred dates and times, and we will arrange for speakers. Additionally, a series of evening info sessions has been scheduled, and registration information is available on the flier. The internship application process closes on March 22nd.
Moreover, McHenry County College is coordinating a paid Summer Construction Internship Program (see attached) modeled after the manufacturing internship. The primary difference is that participants in this program will spend the entire 10 weeks with one company instead of two 5-week rotations. Although this program is not affiliated with the Manufacturing Pathways Consortium, we recognize both programs may draw from a similar applicant pool. Additionally, we desire to avoid sending different emails regarding similar programs. Students are welcome to apply to both programs and may express a preference on the respective applications. Similar to the manufacturing internship program, the construction internship application closes on March 22nd.
