A-H High School Volunteers, TOMORROW is our next volunteer day ---- Sunday, October 23rd from 9 a.m. to noon at the Sphar site west of Hebron. --->The Sphar site is located on Hebron Road between Alden and Hebron. Access to the site is through an old farmyard (the buildings have been removed) located across from an apple orchard. The site is on the south side of Hebron Road (15805 Hebron Road, Harvard IL 60033) and the site is around 0.4 miles east of Knickerbocker Road (to be avoided if at all possible due to the potholes!) and 4 miles west of Hebron. There is a metal green sign by the road with the lot number, which is 15805. Here is a link to the location: https://goo.gl/maps/zqwCdLuPgwFWyy2d7 --->Wear clothes and shoes that can get dirty, and please bring your own drinking water. We’ll have hand tools, work gloves, safety glasses, and perhaps some pre-packaged snacks. Please do not wear soft leggings as seeds will cling to them and can be difficult to remove. Jeans are much better, along with leather boots or other footwear you don't mind getting dirty. --->An RSVP is appreciated, so if you know you will be attending please give me a heads up. For those who may be attending who are under age 18, you will need a parent or guardian to sign the volunteer form (located in the AH High School office/emailed to students) indicating that you are authorized to attend; you can bring it to the workday. (You do not need to sign, just your parent/guardian.) --->There is a bit of walking over somewhat bumpy terrain from the ample parking area to the work location. Trucks may be able to drive in on the dirt road that heads south from the road (road conditions may depend on how much precipitation we get before the workday). --->As always, if there is any question of weather please check in with Pete Jackson at 224-612-1803 if you have a question. We hope to see you out at one of these events! Pete Jackson Friends of Hackmatack Board

Did You Know? The Nov 8 facilities referendum is not about enrollment growth - AH19 student enrollments remain steady. The proposed $15.9M projects address current needs and large-scale projects not affordable through the regular Operations & Maintenance Budget. It is intended to improve our facilities for today’s students and create opportunities for future generations! Did You Know? The $15.9M referendum is not for a new school - it provides critical infrastructure, safety, accessibility and classroom improvements for our current school. The associated debt (if approved) cannot exceed $15.9M and payments on the 20-year loan will remain level. To estimate your tax impact, check out the online tax calculator that utilizes information found on your most recent McHenry County tax bill. This week is National School Bus Safety Week. Please read National School Transportation Association's safety tips for motorists. October 17 - October 21, 2022, marks National School Bus Safety Week around the country. Take a moment to review these safety tips for motorists and please share them in your own community to ensure that our children get to school safely. ⚠️ The overall best practice is to “always stop if there’s a school bus.” ⚠️ Yellow flashing lights indicate the bus is preparing to stop to load or unload children. Motorists should slow down and prepare to stop their vehicles. ⚠️ Motorists may begin moving only when the red flashing lights are turned off, the stop arm is withdrawn, and the bus begins to move. ⚠️ Slow Down. Watch for children walking in the street, especially if there are no sidewalks in the neighborhood. Watch for children playing and gathering near bus stops.
