*** We have High School Volleyball away at Hinkley Big Rock tonight bus time is 3:45. We also have Middle School Volleyball away at Harrison for a 5/6th, 7th & 8th grade games starting at 4:15. MS bus time is also 3:45 the girls will meet in the HS gym after school. Remember if you are a Middle School parent and plan on taking your child home after the away games you must let the coaches know before leaving. *** Big win by your Giants last night at Christian Life. The Giants scored 32 points in the second quarter and never looked back. The offense added a couple more scores in the second half and the defense held the Eagles scoreless the entire game with a dominate performance. Special teams were solid and it was a total team win. Great job guys!! Sports pictures are today starting right after school with Middle School Volleyball first followed by Middle School Football, HS Volleyball, HS Cheer & HS Football. Pictures will be outside on the football field. ***

*** One more change for tonight's Middle School Volleyball game. We will play the 8th grade first at 4:30 and then play the 6th & 7th grade scrimmage game. ***
*** Middle School Volleyball starts their season tonight at home vs. Hiawatha. The game was scheduled as a 7th & 8th however Hiawatha just informed me they had a few 7th graders that didn't come to school today so it will be 8th only. We are still going to start at 4:30 and we will split up our 6th & 7th grade team and have a scrimmage game prior to the 8th grade game. Please pass the word along of the change***
AHHS News: Mr. Behrens' Physics students competed in the Physics 500. They worked in small groups to complete a variety of “races” that required them to make accurate measurements and use the collected data to calculate their average velocity.
Students were only allowed to complete one “normal” race (running or walking), but as you can see they got very creative. We had students doing front handsprings, somersaults, and cartwheels as well as rolling, skipping, bear crawling, and doing “the Griddy” across the finish line. At the end of period, they had to approximate a mystery distance using only a stopwatch and the average velocity calculated.
This fun activity lead to some great conversations about accurate data collection, average versus instantaneous velocity, and error analysis. We are looking forward to many more labs and projects throughout the school year!
