AHHS Students: Join Us for our Next Hackmatack Community Volunteer/Community Service opportunity!
WHEN: Sunday February 12th, 9 a.m. - Noon
WHERE: 9613 N. Route 12, Richmond IL
DETAILS: Wear clothes and shoes that can get dirty, and your own drinking water. We'll provide work gloves, safety glasses and a snack.
PARKING: Please note that there is no on-site parking. It is available directly across from the Blackmon site on the east side of Route 12 - see yellow area on the attached map. Park in the Richmond Village Hall lot, 5601 Hunter Dr., or if that is full at First National Bank of McHenry-Richmond Office, 9705 Prairie Ridge Rd. Then walk across Highway 12, as the site’s entrance is located on the west side of Route 12, just west of the McHenry County Conservation District’s Prairie Trail. Take care crossing busy Route 12. The entrance will be marked with a 'Hackmatack Workday' sign.
STUDENTS: If you are under the age of 18, you will need to bring the waiver form signed by a parent or guardian (this was sent to school email or located in HS office). This is a different waiver form than the one we have used at other, non-refuge sites, and it is a bit complicated, but as long as we get the signature of a parent or guardian you will be fine.
CONTACT: Pete Jackson at 224-612-1803 on the day of the workday if you have a question.

February is CTE Month and we would like to highlight some of our students in Career Technical Education!
"I am taking a Certified Nursing Assistants class (or CNA for short), because I want to learn more about nursing and what it's like being a nurse. I am learning how to take care of people and some of the rules that come with the job. I am learning so much and I am loving it! We get to go into lab every Thursday and get to practice what we have learned that week, whether it be learning how to make a bed, or how to care for someone who can't get out of bed. We are given situations, and expected to know what we are doing, which helps us prepare for what we could expect if we get a job as a nurse."---CNA, Certified Nursing Assistant, Hannah Reiter

Celebrate CTE Month!
Career and Technical Education Month is a public awareness campaign that takes place each February to celebrate CTE, the accomplishments of CTE programs, and the importance of CTE for all students of all ages.
The 2023 CTE theme this year is: Celebrate Today, Own Tomorrow
This month we will also share the stories of leadership and excellence from our CTE AHHS students and raise awareness of the crucial role that CTE has in readying our students for careers.
